Indy Speedway, Chicago, and Madison,WI

Day 4: Indianapolis to Chicago to Madison - 331 miles...
We had a grounds tour of the Indy Motor Speedway this morning and it was pretty darn exciting. There were 14 of us in a small tour van. First, we drove around the track, on the track, while our docent pointed out all of the facts about each part.

Heading down the back straight.

Going into turn 3All of the officials, team sponser hospitality suites, etc, are in the "Pagoda".

The "Pagoda"

Here I am standing on the "yard of bricks", which is the only spot remaining with bricks still exposed. This yard-wide stripe across the track commemorates the original track which was paved with all bricks. Those bricks have since been buried under many layers of asphalt...

"yard of bricks"

Dad and I standing on the track, against the pit wall, in front of the Pagoda.

The position tower shows the car number that is is each of the 33 (Indy) positions.

Okay, the Sprint EVDO card is not responding very well tonight and the pic's are taking a very long time to upload to blogger. So I am going to have to continue this tomorrow, from the car, while my dad is behind the wheel.

And Clyde, the car is seriously filthy from rain, road dirt, construction zones, etc, so I still do not have any more pic's of the car. I will see about that again tomorrow.

Ciao,
Jeff

Yes, our guide told us the news about 15 minutes before the press conf. We were wondering what was up bc we saw a newschannel van parked in front when we arrived. Our guide told us that what he heard was that Bernie Ecclestone told Tony George that Spain will guarantee him $39M and India $42M, so can he match it. TG told him "seeya".

COOL PHOTOS!

Ok, I believe that you have actually been to the Indy Speedway now. ;-)

Had you really been thinking ahead, you could have brought your NDNA JNZ plates with you and then shot a picture of Indy at Indy. Opportunity lost.

Good one for snubbing Clyde with the one thing that he really wanted to see - the new car and odemeter photos! "iN Yo fAce CLyDe!" *high 5's Jeff*

If it is Thursday, This must be Indianopolis.
You post on Friday night about Thursday, We want real time updates.

When the EVDO is working, make an update while in motion. A speedometer picture...

Anything else I can do for you? Perhaps a nice iced tea, Coke Zero,... Ovaltine?

I am doing 80% of the driving. Because I want it that way. Because it's my new car. And when we are taking "side roads" off the Interstates, the EVDO connection is either flakey or very slow. I have tried it twice from the car and it was not easy. I did manage to email Clyde a pic of me sitting in the passenger seat with iBook in lap and SprintCard sitting on the cupholder. So it looks like the newly designed wizbang BMW cupholders are good for something afterall. When you put a bottle of cold water in them, since there is no solid botton, the condensation drips directly onto the tops of both knees of the passenger. Ask my dad about it.

Jeff, that's what ya get for snubbing Clyde - even MORE demands.

Since you're taking requests. I'd like to see you post one of those off the front fender/behind the driver's wheel mounted cam shots that shows the road wizzing by from, like, ground zero as the car navigates a tight turn!

Even better would be an .mpg. I'm just sayin!

And don't get snippy with us!

We are bored and helping to make your Blog amusing since you are aren't! LMAO
(Clyde put me up to saying that!)

The US is the world leader of cupholder design, and Germany may never catch up :-)
Although here is a nice Porsche cupholder:
